SomeSuch

The main character of the comic, Kristen Renee Sparrowmarch, or Karystyn, is a mixed-up hybrid of a humanoid creature. Mostly Fae, she's 1/2 elf, 1/4 pixie, and 1/4 human. She isn't much of a fighter, though she'd never let on to that, due to her jealousy of her twin brother, Punk "Pyromaniac" Sparrowmarch, also known as Pironak. He's better at her than almost everything, but he doesn't have pixie dust. Too bad, that, since Karystyn, in a fit of jealousy, threw some at him. Now he's stuck as an animal, and Karystyn's elven half of the family wants to punish her as they would any errant child. But the spunky elf-girl Karystyn's part human, and she doesn't consider herself a child anymore. She's stuck taking care of Punk for the present, and is trying to prove that she can take care of not only herself but of him as well through doing so. Karystyn's pixie dust will change creatures into random other creatures, but does not affect drakes or dragons, probably because of their scales. 'Rystyn is a trifle kleptomaniacal, and has shown such an affinity for chaos that a powerful chaos mage has decided to mentor her, although we'll see how long that lasts. Most recently, Karystyn was abandoned by her terrified brother, who remains in animal form since she hasn't figured out how to turn him back to his true form, and by Kandor, a hybrid drake who is almost as much trouble as Karystyn is. She has already gotten the mage-name of "Pixie Dust." This really shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone.

Three hundred years ago, Nicholas Mitchell was an elite mage, the only one to be able to turn into a drakk. His specialty was in shadows and darkness, but he dabbled in everything with the ultimate goal of becoming the ultimate mage. He got a bit arrogant, and started doing things he shouldn't have to those he felt stood in his way. A particular vampire noticed and changed him in order to control him. Once a powerful mage, Nicholas is now a rather weak vampire. He believes that the only way for him to become powerful is to become evil, but, despite his ambitious and secretive nature, he's not cruel enough to cause intentional harm--in fact, he's much more likely to do good when it comes down to deciding what to do. He can't stand to harm others as long as he's in control of his temper. He has, however, done some terrible things in the past which he will eventually have to face again, things that have chased him with ghosts of guilt and sorrow for years upon end. That does not mean that he dislikes being a vampire. On the contrary. Now he has an eternity in which to spend striving to become the ultimate vampire, as opposed to a lifetime to become the ultimate mage. That's the better end of the deal, in his viewpoint. But, it's up to him ultimately whether he begins to make the same mistakes as he did in his mortal days or not. In the recent past, Nicholas took a liking to Karystyn. In fact, it might've even been so far as to be called a crush. Karystyn didn't notice, or if she did she just didn't like Mykelos. In any event, he took an arrow to save her life, and consequentially he was thought dead and dumped out at sea by the drake Kandor. Apparently, he survived the arrow, but he has a lookalike still on the mainland who has attracted the attention of Stryke.

One word will sum her up: Unpredictable. Like the weather, she changes from one moment to the next. Most of this is because she was changed mentally by something extremely traumatic that happened to her; later she was cursed so that whenever her name was spoken, she would be subject to delusions for another year. Her delusions can be either useful or dangerous, but it seems that she is past them, for now. She still bears another curse, its nature not quite clear, as a result of something she discovered in the past. This curse makes her dangerous. This same thing that she discovered led to her insanity beyond even the curse, which made her generally harmless. There's just something that isn't right about her now, which is sad, because the information she has will determine the fate of all of Artan; despite the fact that she's not the main character, she is *extremely* important.
